At Afton Plastics, we know that semi-finished shapes are the foundation of high-performing components in industries from chemical processing to medical devices and aerospace systems. That’s why we’re proud to announce the expansion of our FEP product line!
In addition to small-diameter rod and compression-molded sheets and tubes, Afton Plastics now offers extruded FEP rod in diameters up to 2.00”. This will deliver more options for industries that count on the reliability and versatility of FEP, meaning greater design flexibility, reduced lead times, and reliable access to premium-grade FEP for machining and custom fabrication.
Why Semi-Finished FEP Shapes Matter
Fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP) is a trusted material for applications requiring excellent chemical resistance, thermal stability, and low friction. Supplied in intermediate forms like rods, tubes, and sheets, FEP semi-finished shapes are easily machined, formed, and fabricated into components essential for performance and safety in critical environments.
Key Applications
Chemical Processing: FEP rod and sheet stock are machined into gaskets, seals, and linings that safeguard equipment from corrosive chemicals and extreme temperatures. Its non-stick surface reduces product buildup, ensuring system cleanliness and efficiency.
Fluid Transfer: FEP tubes and machined components maintain purity in pharmaceutical, food, and electronic manufacturing. With low permeability and broad temperature tolerance, FEP ensures leak-free, contamination-resistant fluid handling.
Medical Devices: Biocompatible and sterilizable, FEP rod and sheet are machined into valve seats, spacers, fittings, and insulating parts for fluid systems and surgical tools. Small-diameter rods serve as mandrels or catheter supports thanks to their lubricious, inert surface.
Aerospace: With outstanding thermal stability, low outgassing, and resistance to aviation-grade chemicals, FEP shapes are used in precision components for both interior and exterior aerospace systems.
